JESSICA BIEL WINS STAR LEAGUE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

Eight women entered the single-day tournament to become the first Star League World Champion.  In the end, it all came down to a showdown between Jessica Biel and Kim Possible's Christy Romano in the finals.

Neither woman showed any ill effects having already wrestled twice earlier in the night.  The match started off quickly with both women countering the other's offenses scoring near pinfalls.  Eventually, Christy Romano gained the upper edge using her speed sending Biel down with several drop toe holds.  Romano got a little overzealous, however, and brought a table into the ring.  Romano was known for her high risk tactics and her love for TLC matches but using the table would have been an automatic disqualification.  Luckily for her, the referee stepped in.

The distraction allowed Biel to recover and take advantage of a blind side attack.  Biel threw Romano outside the ring, and for a moment it looked like Biel needed to gain a moment of time to rest.  Instead she went out after her opponent.  Biel used all the time she had to do damage to Romano's back constantly ramming her into the guardrail and slamming her head into the ringsteps.  With Romano's back being dealt so much damage in the altercation outside the ring, Biel signaled for her patented side slam.

Romano's heart wasn't about to let it end so quickly.  Romano surprised Biel with a series of chops to the chest.  The last of which sent Biel down to the mat.  Romano locked in a Fujiwara armbar, and sent Biel to the break of submission.   She nearly had the match and the title won but inch by inch Biel made her way to the ropes.  Even though she made it to the ropes, Biel wasn't out of danger.  Christy Romano dragged Biel's body to the middle of the ring.  "That's it!" she cried, and climbed up to the top turnbuckle.  Biel tried her best to squirm her way back up to her feet but the pain in her arm was too much.  Romano hit her with the frog splash.  the impact took it's toll on both women.  Both women had the wind knocked out of them.  The referee started to count with neither woman able to get her feet.  At the count of six, Romano was able to crawl her way on top of Biel for the pin.  With the inability to follow through, she could only get a two count out of the referee before Biel kicked out.  Still clutching her stomach, Romano managed to shout out: "One more time!"  Biel was visibly starting to panic.  She tried to do anything to move out of the way but Romano came crashing down with a second frog splash.  This time she managed to stay on top, and cradled Biel's leg.  The referee made the count but came inches away from the three count before Biel lifted a shoulder just barely off the mat.  It wasn't much but just enough to stop the count.  Romano was in disbelief that she couldn't get the victory.

"Three?"

"No!  Two!  One, two!"

Romano slammed her fists to the mat in frustration.  She grabbed Biel by the hair to pick her up but Biel swept the feet out from underneath her.  Biel pressed Romano's legs over her head for the pin.  The referee made the count but did not see Biel's feet on the ropes being used for leverage.  Biel picked up the three count and won the Star League World Championship in a controversial fashion.  A distraught Christy Romano was left in the ring on her knees as Biel celebrated her win outside the ring.

It wasn't until Romano saw the end of the match backstage on a monitor that she realized what happened.  Her anger took over as she slung anything she could pick up around the locker room.  It took her tag team partner, Kirsten Storms to finally calm her down.  

"Know this," Romano wrote on her blog, "Jessica Biel may have won the title but her reign will be short!  I will be coming after you, Jessica Biel!    Kirsten will be coming after you!  That title should have been mine, and you know it!  I'm just too mad to talk!"
